HOW TO MAKE A NIGERIAN SALAD
Nigerian salad is a very delicious food you can have which is usually used to compliment other Nigerian foods such as Nigerian jellof rice, nigerian fried rice and bread sandwich.
The Nigerian salad ingredients are mostly vegetable which each of these vegetables contain valuable amount nutrients in it.
Equipment you need to make a Nigerian salad.
Large mixing bowl
Ingredients to make a Nigerian salad
1 medium bunch of cabbage
2 medium cucumbers
4 medium carrots
5 plum tomatoes (hard tomatoes)
4 small Irish potatoes.
1 medium bunch lettuce
1 tin of baked beans.
200 g sweet corn
Preparation of the Nigerian salad
Put the Irish potatoes in a pot together with the egg and add salt to the water so the egg won’t crack.
When done, peel the Irish potato and cut it into sizeable cubes and add it into the mixing bowl.
Also crack the egg shell and keep the eggs aside.
Wash all the vegetables listed above with a tbsp of vinegar and baking powder to the water to help kill harmful bacteria on the vegetables and then rinse thoroughly in a fresh water.
Cut the cabbage into tiny little pieces on the chopping board and rinse the cabbage with water, then strain the water out with a strainer and pour the cut cabbage into the mixing bowl.
Shred the carrots with the grater.
Shred the lettuce with a knife.
Cut the tomatoes and cucumber into small cubes and remove the seeds if you don’t like it.
Add the four vegetables into the mixing bowl and set it aside.
Open the baked beans and the sweet corn and sieve the preservation water out from its content and add the content into the mixing bowl.
Slice the eggs into the mixing bowl also.
Now use a spoon to mix everything in the large mixing bowl so the ingredients will mix well and then place in the fridge.Use a fridge not freezer.
After about an hour, if you’re complimenting it with some other Nigerian foods i listed above then get another bowl and collect some salad from the large mixing bowl in the fridge and add the salad cream into the small bowl of salad.
But if you’re using the whole salad, then bring out the mixing bowl and add the salad cream straight into it and turn so the cream will mix well with salad and then serve the creamed salad to jellof rice or fried rice.
