How to cook porridge yam
Porridge yam well prepared taste outrageously good especially the porridge sauce that comes with it for those that like their’s prepared that way.
There are two type of porridge yam that can be prepared
The dried cooked porridge yam and the watery porridge yam which is watery but thick.
I love the watery porridge yam and that’s the one am going to deliberate in this article.
items & ingredients to cook porridge yam
A tuber of yam
1 bulb of onions
Red pepper or cameroon pepper(grounded)
3 stock cubes.
Vegetable leaves (ugu or unachawu )

How to cook porridge yam.
Slice the tuber of yam, cut into pieces and wash it properly.
Get your pot and put the sliced yam into it and add water to it.
Make sure the water is not much, let the water cover the yam a bit.
Put the pot on the cooker and let it cook for 30 minutes.
In 30 minutes time the white yam should be fully done.
Open the pot cover and add about 3 cooking spoon of palm oil depending.
If you want the yam to be more yellow and more tasty.if not 3 cooking spoon is OK.
Grounded cameroon pepper or red pepper.
A tip of cooking spoon of cameroon pepper is ok.
If like more of pepper in your foods then you can add more of it.
I like my not grounded.Half cooking spoon of it is ok.
Add the 3 stock cubes.
Maggi is taste better.
A tip cooking spoon of salt.
Stir the yam to let the ingredients mix up well around the yam.
Then allow it to cook for like 20 – 30 minutes.By this time the water should be a bit thick, then you can now turn the cooker off.
If you love to add vegetables to the porridge yam, then add it 5 minutes before you off the cooker.
